How hoteliers & restaurants you can start using Foursquare

HeaderLogoThis year the Media Social Committee is all about location and accuracy. Believe it or not people are instances of willing to share their whereabouts and Happy to tell their friends and family, where they are almost instantly with applications available on smart phones such as Android phones (use Nexus One me now 2 weeks), iPhone, BlackBerry and others.

The concept is simple. Your portable device can tell the world, where you can "check in" and in places now.Usually people are instances of willing to share interesting places such as restaurants, bars, Hotels, attractions, but also less interesting place on the first, such as airports or train stations. In conclusion, that another friend of yours truly is also at Heathrow Terminal 5, so why not having a cup of coffee instead of being on your own, waiting for the vine.

Today, there are 2 players clear location based services online: Gowalla and Foursquare. both companies almost started around the same time, if you want to have knowledge of how these two companies were created and how their founders Josh Williams and Dennis Crowley found the idea, I would advise to read Wired Magazine story on tech in here.

I have been experiencing myself Foursquare more than 2 weeks since my purchase Nexus One Android, which runs on a mobile phone operating system play by Google.

And I say very quickly got used to the application and issue the "Check" is natural to me now but my wife keeps saying that may not be for all Foursquare users, certainly I'm geek.

It means that you can hoteliers, restaurant owners, bar owners shouldnt look at this new social network site (Remember, as we didn't notice the neighborhood before).

Cause: the phenomenal growth in the past 12 months that seem to slow down (2 million users this month). See stats from compete.com below.

But also Foursquare (and probably Gowalla) brings greater proximity to customers and the Megaphone effect, leading to the operator to offer these Guys "something special" if they keep coming back to your property.

Also the Foursquare is also bit game for users to keep checking badges can be collected. and become Mayor, a specific place, if you check in, often in these places.

To and slightly more what Foursquare can really do to Hotels, restaurants, And has been discovered, which allows business owners to Foursquare enrolling. how it works.

# 1-Find your property

# 2 Have a look at how many people checked in and shouted about your real estate (see Note just about muffins are from Dj J.)

Picture 9

# 3 Register your property to the right that says, "can you manage this venue? Claim here"

You must register first on Foursquare.

First, what are the advantages of a hotel, restaurant, bar owners fort?

Picture 6
Picture 8

# 4 follow the steps to register the property owner and make sure you are using the professional account and your personal account Foursquare. otherwise, all your colleagues or customers would know what to do on weekends and so on.

So in no more than 15 minutes, would I want to believe, you can create an account, register their properties and start building tenders and all for free.

Feel free to share their experiences with Foursquare. I looking forward to hearing your feedback and be patient, as this company is still young and relatively small audience is now.

If your hotel at places where using Foursquare quite defined such as London, New York, San Francisco ...Try now not wait until your competitor is.

Disclaimer: I work for Foursquare or hold shares in the company I'm even happy to receive some rally. though (Dennis, are you listening?)

I really enjoyed this discussion and look forward to future editions with great anticipation. This is not a commercial (!) but we've recently added virtual tour and video technology to our website in addition to still shots as, like you, we believe less text, more multimedia, more interaction is the way forward. Obviously, visitors need factual data, but an honest image or video, as opposed to over-professionally enhanced ones, and honest reviews and comments, will surely tend to sway increasingly savvy spending decisions. The problem in some parts of Europe (Mallorca is one of these places) is that managers and proprietors of hospitality businesses can be rather conservative about all this "new" stuff!

Thanks for the blog and best wishes.

Hi Guillaume! Great post and it's exciting to hear that hotels are incorporating video more and more. I look forward to watching as the usage increases (and also to staying in touch!)

Regards,
Adam

@Mike - Thank you for your support. It's great to hear your experience with videos and virtual tours. I know the hospitality sector can be averse and conservative using new technology and new online tools but this blog is trying to prove the contrary with concrete examples of hotels using 21st century marketing to their own benefits

@Adam - Hi! Great to hear from you. Sorry that I didn't follow up on the offer a while ago. My head was spinning and couldn't keep up with emails. Again sorry.

Re. hotels and video. I think the hotel has to be careful - do you want them to appear too professional? I like Josiah's idea of using flip camera, make it look good, but, not staged.

Foursquare hasn't really taken off in the UK yet, but I can see potential for local businesses to use this to attract new customers and award regular's.

Hotels and video has such huge potential. I would prefer to see many short clips over the promotional montage they often do, but both is even better.

What an interesting idea, services like this are becoming more and more available.
